Chimamanda Adichie: The danger of a single story

Marilyn Monroe photographed by Richard Avedon

Hello all,

We saw a handful of extraordinary photographers working with portraiture yesterday during our lecture for the Collaborative Portrait assignment and had the wonderful opportunity of having visiting artist Gerard Gaskin share his work with us. I also want to share Chimamanda Adichie’s lecture about “The danger of a single story” that she gave at the TED conference in 2009. It is a powerful concept that I hope you will take into consideration as you edit your portrait projects and continue on this journey of interacting with others and photographing the world around you.

Hope the shooting went well today!
