With the last week of classes here, we are all kind of stressed about getting our work done, but yesterday a guest speaker, Nicholas Calcott, came to talk to us about his work which was a nice break. It was interesting to hear from another NYU Tisch alum and to see what he is working on after college. His work is displayed in the lobby of Tisch and I personally thought it was really interesting because he used all different types of film and formats for this project called “City of Salt”. The composition of the pictures is very visually pleasing because he used a lot of lines to lead the eye. He then talked about some of his other projects he had worked on and how he got started in the photography world. He also gave us some good tips like to explore whatever you want while in college because after graduation you can’t really do much personal exploration. It was helpful to hear his insight of photography coming from an insiders perspective. Look forward to seeing more of his work!
